For a professional installation of solid or multi-layer parquet flooring, correct workmanship is as important as choosing the suitable parquet adhesive.
Let the wood acclimatize in the room where it is to be installed, at a temperature between 15 to 25°C and relative humidity of 50 to 75%. The walls should be completely dry and not recently plastered. It is necessary to let the fresh screed dry completely. A cementitious screed should not exceed 2% remaining humidity. For calcium sulphate screeds, only 0,5% is allowed. Floors on top of a basement should be well-ventilated. Otherwise, it may be necessary to include a humidity control layer to avoid moisture.
For solid wood planks, a high-quality hybrid adhesive such as Soudal SMX 30 Plus is ideal as it combines excellent elasticity with high strength. It will accommodate any movement of the wood. The datasheet includes the maximum width of wooden planks. Soudal hybrid parquet adhesives offer very low emission properties for high indoor air quality (GEV Emicode EC1-R Plus). For laminated or engineered wooden flooring, MS 20 Plus may offer all required performance.
The 2-component PU adhesive PU-20P shows an even higher strength but has a rigid connection to the subfloor. This very strong connection will not allow for any movement but will ensure perfect adhesion, e.g. for woodblock parquet.
